Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 28, 2026
Step Champ ("the app", "we", "us"; also known as StepGame) lets you sync your daily step count and compete with friends on group leaderboards. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier through Supabase Authentication.
- Health data (step counts). With your permission, the app reads your daily step count from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS or Health Connect on Android. We read step data only; we do not write any data back to Health.
- App activity. Groups you create or join, invite codes, and the step totals shown on leaderboards.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or any health data other than step counts.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
- To calculate and display group leaderboards and competition standings.
- To sync your step history when you request a backfill.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.
How your data is stored and shared
Your data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored using the following service providers, who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication and database storage.
- Microsoft Azure — hosting for the Step Champ API and this website.
- Google — sign-in provider.
We share data with these providers only as needed to operate the app. We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your account and step data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app. If you cannot sign in, email the address below or follow the instructions on our account deletion page.
Children's privacy
Step Champ is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- You can revoke the app's access to Health data at any time in your device's Apple Health or Health Connect settings.
- You can sign out from the Settings screen in the app.
- You can delete your account from Settings in the app, or request deletion using the contact below / account deletion page.
