Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Step Champ mobile application ("Step Champ", "the app", "we", "us"; also known as StepGame), package com.stepgame.app. By signing in or using the app, you agree to these Terms.

This document is a template for a small consumer fitness social app. Have it reviewed by a qualified attorney before relying on it for a public launch.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use Step Champ. The app is not directed to children under 13.

Account

You sign in with Google through our authentication provider (Supabase). You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your Google account secure. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app, or by following the instructions on our account deletion page.

The service

Step Champ lets you sync daily step counts (with your permission, from Apple Health or Health Connect) and compete with friends on group leaderboards and optional scoring competitions. Features may change over time.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Misrepresent your identity or step data in a way intended to cheat competitions
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or overload the service
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose

We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms.

Health data

Step Champ reads step counts only, with your explicit permission. It does not provide medical advice. Leaderboards and competitions are for entertainment and motivation.

Intellectual property

The app, branding, and related materials are owned by Step Champ / its operators. You retain rights to your profile content; you grant us a limited license to host and display it as needed to operate the service (for example, showing your display name and step totals on group leaderboards).

Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that step data from your device will always be complete or accurate.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (CURRENTLY $0 FOR THE FREE APP) OR (B) USD $50.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. By using the app you also acknowledge that policy.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms where permitted by law.
